Arimidex and Breastfeeding

The link between Arimidex and breastfeeding is not clear. However, given the risk of potentially serious side effects, the manufacturer recommends that the drug be used with caution in women who are nursing. It is not known if Arimidex® (anastrozole) passes through breast milk. Because of the potentially serious side effects that could occur in the nursing infant, the manufacturer of Arimidex recommends that the drug be used cautiously in breastfeeding women. Therefore, if you are breastfeeding or thinking of starting, make sure to let your healthcare provider know.
