Taxol Chemotherapy Information
Taxol® (paclitaxel) is a prescription cancer medication approved for use in adults. It is given through an IV and comes in brand-name and generic form. Several types of cancer can be treated with this chemotherapy drug, including:
- Advanced ovarian cancer
- Metastatic breast cancer
- Breast cancer that has returned within six months of prior chemotherapy after breast cancer surgery
- Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that is not likely to be cured by surgery or radiation.
Depending on the type of cancer being treated and the extent of the disease, Taxol may be used by itself or in combination with other cancer medications.
Before starting treatment with Taxol, tell your healthcare provider about any medications you are taking and any other medical conditions you have, including any allergies. This chemotherapy medicine is not suitable for everyone, so giving your healthcare provider up-to-date information on your medical history can help ensure treatment that is safe, appropriate, and effective.
