Docefrez Drug Interactions

CYP 3A4 Inducer Medications
The liver breaks down Docefrez using enzymes known as CYP 3A4 enzymes. Some medications known as CYP 3A4 inducers can increase the activity of these enzymes. Combining Docefrez with one of these CYP 3A4 inducers may decrease the level of Docefrez in your body, potentially making it less effective.

CYP 3A4 Inhibitor Medications
The liver breaks down Docefrez using enzymes known as CYP 3A4 enzymes. Some medications known as CYP 3A4 inhibitors can decrease the activity of these enzymes. Combining Docefrez with one of these CYP 3A4 inhibitors may increase the level of Docefrez in your body, potentially increasing your risk for side effects.

It is generally recommended that Docefrez not be combined with strong CYP 3A4 inhibitors. If these medicines must be used together, your healthcare provider will need to monitor you closely and possibly reduce your Docefrez dosage.

Echinacea
Echinacea could possibly decrease the effectiveness of Docefrez. Although this interaction is theoretical, it is probably best to avoid using echinacea during Docefrez treatment unless your healthcare provider tells you otherwise.

Live Vaccinations
Live vaccines are vaccines that contain live viruses or bacteria. If you receive a live vaccine while receiving Docefrez, you could become infected with the virus or bacteria from the vaccine. Also, live vaccines may be less effective in people using Docefrez. It is generally best to avoid live vaccines during chemotherapy treatment. Therefore, you should talk to your healthcare provider before receiving any vaccination or immunization while receiving Docefrez.

P-glycoprotein (Pgp) Inducers
P-glycoprotein is a protein found in the body. One of its roles is to help remove substances, such as medications, from the tissues in the body so they can be removed through the urine or feces. Pgp helps remove Docefrez from the body. Certain other medications known as Pgp inducers increase the activity of Pgp.

Combining Docefrez with one of these Pgp inducers may cause Docefrez to be removed from the body too quickly, potentially making it less effective.
