How Does Docefrez Work?
Docefrez belongs to a group of medications called taxanes. Taxanes work by stabilizing certain structures inside cells called microtubules and preventing the cells from breaking them down. Because cells must disassemble microtubules in order to divide and multiply, Docefrez stops cell growth.
Docefrez can kill both healthy and cancerous cells, which is what causes many of the dangerous side effects. However, it has a greater effect on cells that multiply rapidly. In general, cancer cells multiply more rapidly than healthy cells and are, therefore, more affected by treatment.
