Ellence Drug Interactions (Cont.)

Ellence Interactions Explained

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when Ellence is combined with any of the drugs listed above.

Certain Calcium Channel Blockers
Combining certain calcium channel blockers with Ellence may increase the risk of Ellence side effects, particularly side effects that affect the heart. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.

Cimetidine (Tagamet)
Combining Ellence and cimetidine can increase the level of Ellence in your blood, increasing your risk of side effects. You should not take cimetidine (including over-the-counter cimetidine products) while receiving Ellence chemotherapy.

Live Vaccinations
Because chemotherapy (including Ellence) can suppress the immune system, it is generally best to avoid live vaccinations while receiving chemotherapy.

Trastuzumab (Herceptin)
Taking trastuzumab with Ellence can increase your risk of congestive heart failure (CHF). Generally, these medications should not be taken together.
