Ellence Drug Interactions

A number of medications may potentially interact with Ellence. Drug interactions may occur if Ellence is taken together with "live" vaccinations, certain calcium channel blockers, cimetidine, or trastuzumab. Ellence drug interactions may increase your risk of developing potentially dangerous side effects.

Ellence^® (epirubicin hydrochloride) can potentially interact with other medications. Some of these medicines that may lead to Ellence interactions include:

Certain calcium channel blockers, including:

o Diltiazem (Cardizem^®, Cardizem CD^®, Cardizem LA^®, Cartia XT^®, Dilacor XR^®, Dilt-CD^®, Diltia XT^®, Dilt-XR^®, Taztia XT^®, Tiazac^®)

o Verapamil (Calan^®, Calan SR^®, Covera-HS^®, Isoptin SR^®, Verelan^®, Verelan PM^®)

Cimetidine (Tagamet^®)
"Live" vaccinations, including:

o Chickenpox vaccine (varicella vaccine)

o FluMist^® (the nasal vaccine for influenza; the injected vaccine is not live)

o MMR vaccine (measles, mumps, rubella vaccine)

o Polio vaccine

o Rotavirus vaccine

o Smallpox vaccine

o Yellow fever vaccine

o BCG vaccine (used in some countries for tuberculosis)
