Femara (Letrozole) Drug Information

The drug Femara® (letrozole) is approved for the treatment of certain types of breast cancer in postmenopausal women. In particular, this drug is licensed for postmenopausal women who have:
  • Early breast cancer that is hormone receptor-positive and who have had surgery
  • Taken tamoxifen (Nolvadex®, Soltamox™) for five years after surgery or radiation therapy for breast cancer
  • Advanced or metastatic (spreading) breast cancer that is either hormone receptor-positive or hormone receptor-unknown.
Side effects are possible with this medicine, and it is not appropriate for everyone, so your healthcare provider needs complete information on your medical history and current medications. This will help him or her make sure that Femara is right for you.
