Femara Oral

If you are a postmenopausal woman with breast cancer, your healthcare provider may prescribe Femara® (letrozole). This medication works by blocking certain enzymes in the body that produce estrogen. Because many types of breast cancer need estrogen to grow, Femara can help slow down the growth of these cancers.

As an oral medication, Femara comes in the form of a tablet and is taken once a day. Your dosage amount will depend on several factors, such as the severity of your breast cancer, other medical conditions you may have, and other medications you are taking.

Although most women tolerate this medication well, it is not suitable for everyone. Possible side effects include night sweats, hot flashes, and weight gain.
