Femara® (letrozole) is approved to treat specific types of breast cancer in postmenopausal women. Metastatic breast cancer, early breast cancer that is hormone receptor-positive, and advanced breast cancer that is either hormone receptor-positive or for which the hormone receptor is unknown can be treated with the medication. Femara is typically taken once a day as a tablet.
 
Some common side effects of Femara include hot flashes, night sweats, and joint pain. A few of the medical conditions that you should tell your healthcare provider about before you take Femara include liver disease (including liver failure or cirrhosis), osteoporosis, and any allergies you may have (including allergies to food, dyes, or preservatives).
