Who Makes Femara?

The prescription medicine Femara® (letrozole) is approved to treat certain types of breast cancer in women who have gone through menopause. It is currently available as a brand-name medication only. Femara is made by Novartis Pharmaceuticals, and it belongs to a group of medications called aromatase inhibitors. These drugs are designed to block enzymes that produce estrogen -- a hormone that is known to increase the growth of certain types of breast cancer tumors.
