Herceptin? Herceptine is a common misspelling of Herceptin.
Herceptin® (trastuzumab) is a prescription drug used for treating breast cancer or stomach cancer. It is a form of biologic therapy, which is less "toxic" than chemotherapy and is only used to treat cancers that have a high concentration of HER2 (a protein on the outside of certain cancer cells) receptors. Herceptin is given by IV every seven days, with the first infusion lasting 90 minutes and the subsequent ones lasting 30 minutes. Common side effects include nausea, fever, and weakness.
