Abraxane Drug Interactions Explained

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when Abraxane is combined with any of the drugs listed above.

Certain Antibiotics or Antifungals
Combining certain antibiotics or antifungals with Abraxane may increase the level of Abraxane in your blood, increasing your risk of Abraxane side effects. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.

Certain Anticonvulsants
Combining Abraxane with certain anticonvulsants (seizure medications) can decrease the level of Abraxane in your blood, perhaps making it less effective. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.

Live Vaccinations
Because chemotherapy (including Abraxane) can suppress the immune system, it is generally best to avoid live vaccinations while receiving chemotherapy.

Rifamycin Antibiotics
Combining Abraxane with rifamycin antibiotics can affect the level of Abraxane in your blood. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.

Final Thoughts

It is possible that not all drug interactions with Abraxane were discussed in this article. Therefore, you should talk with your pharmacist or healthcare provider about any specific interactions that may apply to you.
