Breast Cancer Home > Aredia for Cancer

People who have high levels of calcium in the blood due to Paget's disease of the bone or certain types of cancer may be given Aredia® (pamidronate disodium). This drug is also used to prevent or delay broken bones or other bone damage due to multiple myeloma or breast cancer that has spread to the bone. It works by slowing down the rate at which bone is broken down, which makes it effective for the uses mentioned in this article.

At this time, Aredia is only approved for adults. Off-label uses do exist and include treating high blood calcium due to other causes and other types of bone disease.
