Radiation After a Mastectomy

In some cases, radiation therapy for breast cancer will be used after a mastectomy. It may be used if:
 
  • The tumor is larger than 2 inches
  • Cancer is found in many lymph nodes under the arm
  • The tumor is close to the rib cage or chest wall muscles.
