Types of Breast Cancer Treatment

Women with breast cancer have many treatment options available to them. These breast cancer treatment options include:
Many women receive more than one type of breast cancer treatment, and the choice of treatment depends mainly on the stage of breast cancer. Some of these treatments are considered primary, where the purpose is to remove the tumor. Others are considered adjuvant therapy, which is treatment given to kill any tumor cells that may have spread and increase the chances for a breast cancer cure (see Adjuvant Therapy for Breast Cancer).
Your doctor can describe your choices and the expected results. You might want to know how breast cancer treatment may change your normal activities. You may want to know how you will look during and after treatment. It's important to ask all the questions you can think of. You and your doctor can work together to develop a breast cancer treatment plan that reflects your medical needs and personal values.
