Breast Cancer Home > Ellence Dosage
The Ellence dosage that a healthcare provider recommends will vary from person to person, depending on the patient's weight and height, other chemotherapy medications he or she may be taking, and whether side effects occur. Since the medication is given through an IV, you must receive your Ellence dose at your healthcare provider's office, a hospital, or an "infusion center."
The dose of Ellence® (epirubicin hydrochloride) that your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on a number of factors, including:
- Your height and weight
- Other medications you may be taking
- Other medical conditions you may have.
As is always the case, do not adjust your Ellence dose unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.
Ellence Dosing for Cancer
Your healthcare provider will base your Ellence dose on your body surface area (which is calculated using your height and weight). Your Ellence dose will vary, depending on the other chemotherapy medications you are taking and whether you develop bothersome or dangerous Ellence side effects.
Considerations for people taking Ellence include the following:
- Ellence is given through an IV.
- Most people receive their Ellence injection at their healthcare provider's office, a hospital, or at an "infusion center."
- For the medication to work properly, it must be taken as prescribed. Ellence will not work as well if you stop taking it before your healthcare provider recommends.
- If you are unsure about anything related to Ellence or your Ellence dosage, talk to your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
