If certain medications are taken with Femara, drug interactions can potentially occur. Among the drugs that can potentially interact with Femara are oral contraceptives (birth control pills) and estrogens or other hormone replacement therapy. It is possible that if you take these medicines along with Femara, they may decrease the effectiveness of Femara.

Estrogens may decrease the effectiveness of Femara. Therefore, these two medications should not be combined.
Oral contraceptives may also decrease the effectiveness of Femara and should not be taken with it. Talk with your healthcare provider about alternative birth control methods.
