Breast Cancer Home > Tamoxifen 20 Mg Tablets

When treating or preventing breast cancer with tamoxifen citrate (Nolvadex®), your healthcare provider will consider several factors. Some of these factors include the severity of your breast cancer, other medical conditions you may have, and other medications you are currently taking.
The recommended dose of tamoxifen for treating breast cancer is tamoxifen 20 mg to 40 mg daily. Doses larger than 20 mg per day should be split up into two smaller doses. The recommended dose of tamoxifen for preventing breast cancer or for treating ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) is tamoxifen 20 mg tablets, taken once daily for five years.
For the medication to work properly, it must be taken as recommended. Taking your dose with food may prevent an upset stomach.
