The chemotherapy drug Taxotere® (docetaxel) is approved for use in adults and is available by prescription only. Who makes it? At this time, sanofi-aventis is the only company that makes Taxotere. This medication comes in brand-name form and is given intravenously (through an IV).
Taxotere can be used by itself or with other chemotherapy drugs as part of a chemo "regimen." Regardless of the type of cancer being treated, each dose takes an hour to administer. Commonly reported side effects include hair loss, muscle weakness, and low levels of white blood cells.
