Breast Cancer Home > Xeloda Alternatives

Xeloda® (capecitabine) is a medication prescribed for the treatment of breast cancer and colorectal cancer (cancer of the rectum or colon).
In general, Xeloda is effective and well tolerated. However, if you experience bothersome side effects or if the medication is not adequately controlling your symptoms, there are several alternatives to Xeloda. Some of these include:
  • Surgery
  • Radiation therapy
  • Medications (including chemotherapy, hormone therapy, and biological therapy).
Medications are often an integral part of cancer treatment. There are a variety of different medications available, each with different advantages and disadvantages. If Xeloda is not working for you, talk to your healthcare provider about some of the possible alternatives for cancer treatment.
(Click Breast Cancer Medication for a more complete look at the alternatives to Xeloda. This article offers a detailed list of various other methods and medications that can be used if Xeloda is not working for your condition or if it is causing troublesome side effects.)
