Tamoxifen Alternatives

Tamoxifen citrate (Nolvadex®) is a medication prescribed to treat or prevent breast cancer.
 
In general, tamoxifen is effective and well tolerated. However, if you experience bothersome side effects or if the medication is not adequately controlling your symptoms, there are several alternatives to tamoxifen. Some of these substitutes include:

  • Radiation therapy
  • Medications (including chemotherapy, hormone therapy, and biological therapy).
