Tamoxifen Pills

A healthcare provider may prescribe tamoxifen citrate (Nolvadex®) to treat or prevent breast cancer. There are various forms and strengths of this medication available.
Available in the form of a liquid and tablets (pills), tamoxifen works to slow down the growth of breast cancer by decreasing the effects of estrogen.
Although most people tolerate this medication well, tamoxifen is not suitable for everyone. Possible side effects of the medication include nausea, hot flashes, and vaginal discharge. Also, you may not be able to safely use this medicine if you have had a blood clot or stroke.
