Tomoxifen

 

Tamoxifen is a prescription drug used to treat certain forms of breast cancer, such as node-positive breast cancer, metastatic breast cancer, and ductal carcinoma in situ. The medication may also help prevent the disease in women who are at high risk for it.

 

The medication, which comes in tablet form, is typically taken once or twice a day. Potential side effects include water retention, dizziness, and abnormal menstrual periods. Because some people are more likely to experience side effects than others, tell your healthcare provider about all other medicines you are taking, including vitamins and herbal supplements.
