Taxotere Breast Cancer Medicine

If you have been diagnosed with
breast cancer, your healthcare provider may recommend a chemotherapy medicine called Taxotere® (docetaxel). This product belongs to a group of medications called taxanes, which work by interfering with certain structures within cancer cells.

One study looked at using Taxotere to treat advanced or metastatic breast cancer (cancer that has spread to other parts of the body) in people who had been treated unsuccessfully with other types of chemotherapy. In this study, people were given either Taxotere or a combination of mitomycin (Mitozytrex®) and vinblastine (Velban®). Compared to the combined drug regimen, Taxotere was shown to increase survival and delay the progression of the cancer.
